An hour 15 minutes from Christchurch and just 15 minutes from the township of Cheviot, this rolling farmland on which the glampsite lives is surrounded by kanuka and pine plantations. A hot tub, camp kitchen and geodesic domes are open to visitors, who – regardless of the expansive size of the glamping ground – are granted exclusive use of the whole campsite.
Sweeping views down toward the Hurunui River ground the site between the Kaikoura mountain ranges and the North Pacific Ocean. A working sheep, deer and beef farm, Tawanui brings with it plenty of wildlife to see. Guests can embark on an ATV farm tour of the property, and for those with a slightly more wild side, their sister company Energy Jet allows you to appreciate the stunning scenery while also getting a little jolt of adrenaline.
